GET YOUR “ITCH” ON: L!VE ASBURY PARK PRESENTS “HEDWIG”

Excerpted from a press release:

L!VE Asbury Park is pleased to announce its upcoming production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch.  Chris Hall (Hedwig) and Kendal Hartse (Yitzhak) have signed on as the leads along side musicians Michael Thomas Murray, Mike Preen and Steve Kelly.

Audiences will remember Chris Hall who garnered critical acclaim as the beyond dynamic Frankenfurter in The Rocky Horror Show at The Carousel House in 2010.  Hedwig will run June 21, 22 and 23rd for five live performances at The Press Room, a premiere rock venue  located at 610 Bangs Avenue in downtown Asbury Park.

“Hedwig and the Angry Itch” returns to Asbury Park at the Press Room in June.

The critically acclaimed Off-Broadway rock theatre hit, Hedwig and The Angry Inch, written by John Cameron Mitchell and Steven Trask, tells the story of an ‘internationally ignored’ rock singer, Hedwig, and her search for stardom and love. This production of Hedwig presented by L!VE Asbury Park is set to be directed by Carlos Armesto, with choeography by Elisabetta Spuria and musical direction by Michael Thomas Murray.

“To say that Hedwig rocks, is an understatement.  There is also an undeniable heart to this galvanizing story, and frankly, our production is likely to melt this venue.  You do not want to miss this one!”  states Alecia Brooks, L!VE Producer/Casting Director. “We are creating an intimate, immersive experience the audience will never forget,” says Carlos Armesto, Hedwig’s director and L!VE’s Artistic Director.

There are five Hedwig performances, and ticket buyers can choose to attend a seated performance or a “standing room only” midnight rock show.  Performances are Thursday June 21 at 9 pm (seated), Friday June 22 at 8 pm (seated), the night of Friday June 22 at midnight (standing room only), Saturday June 22 at 8 pm (seated), and the night of Saturday June 22 at midnight (standing room only).  Also included with ticket purchase is a pre-show cocktail hour.

Tickets go on sale May 8. Tickets $20 -$40.  To purchase tickets, visit liveasburypark.org or call 866-811-4111.  For more information, visit www.liveasburypark.org or email us at info@liveasburypark.org, or call 732-481-2847.
