“THE POPE” COMES TO ASBURY PARK: NEW RESTAURANT NEWS

Marilyn and Scott Schlossbach

Two weeks ago, readers of TheBPlot’s “You Say Who” learned first and exclusively that a star female restauranteur in town was set to open a new Cajun / Creole-style restaurant in the former Mattison Park space.  Today, the full scoop… proving yet again that if you want to be in the know with what is relevant to your shore life, read TheBPlot here and the print version in The Coaster every week!

Langosta Lounge’s Marilyn Schlossbach and her team will launch a new restaurant “Trinity and the Pope” in the former Mattison Park space, featuring Cajun and Creole-inspired menu.

“’Trinity’ refers to the cornerstone of Cajun cuisine – bell peppers, onions and celery,” said Schlossbach, who has been in the restaurant business for more than two decades. “’Pope’ is a culinary term for garlic – an important ingredient in Creole-style cooking. The new restaurant will offer intelligent menu items inspired by these two styles of cuisine.”

The new restaurant and bar is a partnership between Schlossbach and her husband Scott, brother Richard, Adam Levy the owner of 649 Mattison Avenue and employees from Schlossbach’s other restaurants.

“I wanted to open something new that would compliment the rest of the great dining options in Asbury Park,” said Schlossbach, who my snitches told me has been researching the cuisine style by taking numerous trips to New Orleans recently.

Chef Chris from Langosta Lounge, who trained at Commanders Palace in New Orleans, a AAA four-diamond restaurant also named the “Most Popular Restaurant” in New Orleans by Zagat Survey, will serve as executive chef at “Trinity and the Pope”.

Schlossbach is working hard to have the new dining spot open for a grand opening mid-February, to coincide with Mardi Gras.

“We can not wait to bring more vibrancy, in addition to Taka, back to Mattison Avenue,” said Schlossbach.

“Trinity and the Pope” will be the fourth in Schlossbach’s restaurant empire which includes Langosta Lounge and Pop’s Garage in Asbury Park and Labrador Lounge in Normandy Beach.
