NEW RESTAURANT AT BELMAR MARINA PLANNED FOR 2011 (EXCLUSIVE)

9th Ave. Pier facing west

Sources tell TheBPlot restauranteurs Tim McLoone  (McLoone’s Supper Club, Asbury Grill) and Ollie Klein (Klein’s Restaurant and Fish Market) are battling for the right to run the mid-priced seafood restaurant and bar planned for summer 2011 at the 9th Avenue Pier in the Belmar Marina (at Route 35).

Docks will welcome hungry boaters, similar to Red's Restaurant in Pt. Pleasant

Initial designs and plans (see image below) are in development to convert the primo location –  currently a parking lot with cracked asphalt, garbage dumpsters and a lone shipping container – into an initially seasonal 5200 sq feet, 100 seat restaurant and bar with a large dining patio with 180 degree views of Shark River.

New for 2010, the “worn” area of the marina surrounding the pier will be given a mass-appealing (read generic) makeover with predictable pavers and landscaping.

The redevelopment of the 9th Avenue Pier is part of Belmar’s longer-term vision to replace the Harbor Master building with a much larger, permanent building which will include a fine-dining restaurant with Concession Permit License on the second floor.
