THE POPE HAS ARRIVED: EXCLUSIVE FIRST LOOK INSIDE NEW RESTAURANT

Hold on to your beignets, the Pope is here.

Asbury Park’s newest restaurant Trinity and the Pope by Marilyn Schlossbach and friends is opening after months of anticipation, in the former Mattison Park building, Saturday (May1) – serving up fab Cajun / Creole cuisine in the city’s downtown district.

The decor with sparkling chandeliers, lovely woodwork and a soft yellow and grasshopper green with details of gold color scheme is grand plantation-style with a twist.  Select walls also feature strategically-placed decopage from old Cajun and Creole cookbooks.

Menu items will include oyster po boy sliders with pickeled string cucumbers and chive remoulade, seafood okra gumbo, BBQ shrimp and anduille sausage grits, jalepeno beignets with crawfish cream sauce and bourbon bread pudding.  Cocktails run the spectrum from the classic Hurricane to the creative, like the Big, Pink and Easy – with Citron vodka, Pama, sparkling wine and Edelflower.

Wednesday, TheBPlot got an exclusive first look…

Trinity and the Pope, 732.807.3435, 649 Mattison Avenue, Asbury Park.
