BEAMING SUN, OCEAN BREEZE & BEER: YAPPY HOUR PAW-FECTION

Relax with your favorite canine companion at the new season of Yappy Hour at Wonderbar.  Happy hour for dogs and the people who love them – is back at the Wonderbar for its fifth season featuring an expanded calendar.

“We have expanded Yappy Hour to include Sundays,” said Debbie DeLisa, manager of Wonderbar.  “Every dog owner is welcome to bring their pal and hang out on our sun deck with friends.”

This year, Yappy Hour has expanded to Sunday afternoons, too.  The schedule is is every Thursday evening and Saturday and Sunday afternoons until the Fall, weather permitting.

The Wonderbar’s huge staycation-like deck area boasts a thirty-foot bar, chaise lounges and more for canine companion animal owners and fans.

The outdoor area is secured by a white-picket fence so pet owners can relax worry-free when their pets play leash-free.

“We have people coming from all over New Jersey now just for Yappy Hour,” said DeLisa.  “It’s a great way to relax by the beach with your dog.”

Besides Debbie, the bark-star, err… rock star of the Hour is Jim Erven, owner of Absolute Control Dog Training II, who plays the role of party organizer, matchmaker and top-dog, ensuring canine companions are on their best behavior.

Jim, a canine companion trainer for 15 years, has been called Asbury Park’s own no-nonsense version of the Dog Whisperer, carefully overseeing 125 dogs during the beautiful days of summer.

“Jim is fierce,” said Amy Quinn.  “I have seen him transform dogs into great Yappy Hour guests.  I know many dog owners who are thankful for his expertise.”
