TREASURES INTO TAX DEDUCTIONS: TRINITY CHURCH WANTS YOUR STUFF!
Organizers of the locally renowned annual Treasure and Thrift Sale at Trinity Church are seeking quality donations to sell to fill the
more than doubled sales space as used in previous years.
“We have gotten in some great vintage clothing, low-mileage high-end rugs, great antiques and some really interesting art – including a beautiful autographed photography book,” said Kevin Kelly, co-chair of the sale. “We are hoping for many more great items. Will we get another Volvo station wagon to sell this year? I really hope so.
“Please go through your attic and find things you are not using. Your grandmother would rather someone have used her old silver and housewares than it all sit and collect dust. Give it to a good cause and get the tax write-off.”
Proceeds go to the various ministries of the church, including the youth ministry and the pastoral care grief and bereavement group, in addition to “much needed” repairs to the 100 year-old historic church on Asbury Avenue at Grand Avenue.
“Seventy five local kids benefit from the youth ministry and various other programs,” said Kelly. “One of my personal favorites is the free piano lessons for kids where they go on to perform at our church and others.”
This year, the retail space will include both an outdoor bazaar of popular priced goods and a boutique area in the church’s gymnasium featuring specialty items.
“We need the help of The Coaster readers to make this sale the best yet,” said Kelly. “Consider all the expense and time it takes to have a yard sale. Nobody wants to lose a day at the beach – please just donate your items to Trinity Church and take advantage of our non-profit status tax deduction.”
The Treasure and Thrift Sale preview party and general sales are scheduled for September 10 (evening) and 11 (morning), respectively. Email ThriftSale@TrinityNJ.com to schedule a drop off or for more information.
