THE BOARDWALK IS HOT: STATS YOU DON’T NEED, TO CONFIRM SOMETHING YOU ALREADY KNOW

Summer stats about the beach and boardwalk from a recent Madison Marquette press release:

  • Through the end of July, daily beach tag sales were up 75 percent over last year’s tally and sales of seasonal passes were up 200 percent.
  • Boardwalk retailers and restaurants are also reporting increased sales over previous years. Early summer tallies show a more than 50 percent increase in retail sales and a more than 30 percent increase in restaurant sales over a similar period last summer.
  • A recent survey of beachgoers in Asbury Park showed that most are coming from the surrounding counties in New Jersey. However, there are also many New Yorkers who make the quick journey down the Garden State Parkway and some from the nearby Philadelphia area.
