THE STORY BEHIND ROBIN QUIVERS’ BOOK LAUNCH POSTPONEMENT (EXCLUSIVE)

UPDATE (8/26/13): The publication date for “Vegucation of Robin” has been moved forward one week to October 1, 2013.

UPDATE (9/9/13):  In an emotional 85 minute conversation today on the “Howard Stern Show,” Robin Quivers revealed she battled uterine cancer for 18 months and now claims to be “completely cured.”  The article below, originally published March 28, 2013, contains insider information a lot of which was confirmed during toaay’s radio show conversation.

The very independent and wonderful Robin Quivers of the “Howard Stern Show” continues to need your extra good energy and best wishes.

Her new cook-slash-lifestyle book, “The Vegucation of Robin,” was scheduled to launch Tuesday (March 26) after being postponed from an original planned publication timing of Fall 2012 (holiday gift season).  But just ten days ago – after review copies were mailed to media outlets, including TheBPlot – the publisher notified booksellers the tome’s launch was again being postponed, this time to October 8, 2013.

A source at Avery a division of Penguin Group publishing told TheBPlot, “At the very last minute we were notified by her representative that she would not be able to commit to the promotion schedule” which included a full media tour with stops at “Today” and the hot, hot “Katie,” Katie Couric’s daytime success as well as a handful of major market book signings.  [more below]

Robin Quivers' new book, "Vegucation of Robin" will now publish in October of 2013.

Robin Quivers’ new book, “Vegucation of Robin” will now publish in October of 2013.

“We have to wait until she is well enough to fully promote the book,” the publishing source continued.  “(The book) was as close to release as it can get.  Pre-sale numbers were strong.  The book will not be edited or changed and the price will be the same.  The boxes are sitting in a warehouse waiting to be sold.”

Quivers treatment and recovery for what she said on-air was a “grapefruit-size mass” next to her bladder has been extended.

On Page 11 of “Vegucation of Robin” she briefly references her 8-hour surgery and credits her speedy surgical recovery to her nutrition regime.  The detailed reveal and discussion of Quivers’ health scare is part of the book’s launch strategy.

A show source said, “We were told a while ago that she will only talk about (her health issues) when the book launches.  We have built a show on being real and she is not talking about the biggest thing in her life right now which is frustrating.  I am not saying it’s not understandable but it is frustrating.”

TheBPlot exclusively reported in May of 2012, Quivers was preparing for live cooking demos on “Today” as well as other shows. At the time, a long-time source called Quivers – one of my favorite people when I worked at the show –  a “publisher’s dream” as it relates to tireless book promotion.

I was working at KROCK when Quivers’ first book “Quivers a Life” launched and saw her work so hard with a smile to move books.  Her launch party for “Quivers” was on the set of a FOX News show in midtown and included Joan Rivers, Gilbert Gottfried and many others as guests.  At some points, I was two feet away from her as she masterfully worked the press line.

Since last summer, Quivers has been co-hosting the morning radio show via ISDN line from her luxe but not obnoxious Upper West Side two-bedroom, high-floor condo overlooking the Hudson River.

No matter when the book – with a beautiful and compelling foreword from Russell Simmons – is ultimately published, I know you will find it both interesting and inspiring.  As well, some of the 90 recipes are so good a non-vegan will crave ’em.

Quivers’ representatives did not return a call or email for comment.
