Swim to support one of the area’s most impactful local charities Sunday (Aug. 4) at the Tides Hotel Pool Party benefitting The Center.

I spoke with the organizer of the event, the wonderful Ryan Jimenez, manager of the Tides who, over the past few years has branded the hotel as one of the area’s cultural hubs – supporting charities and craftsman twelve months of the year.

The pool at the Tides Hotel will be the setting for a benefit for The Center.

TBP:  How did this pool party come to be?

Jimenez:  Three years ago I had to stop volunteering regularly at The Center when I took this job at the Tides.  I always believed in what they did and stood for and was enamored by the amount and quality of services the organization and its volunteers provided.  Today, I am a member of the Board of Directors and wanted to utilize the resources I had available to host an event.

TBP:  Tell us about the pool party.

Jimenez:  It is at the Tides, it is for The Center and I am throwing it – what more can you want.

Seriously, it is a casual party that you can come swim at or bask in the sun in one of the area’s most beautiful pools, surrounded by great people.  The ticket donation includes grilled food, and side dishes from the Kissing Kissing Booth, desserts from Confections of a Rock Star and iced coffee from the Asbury Park Roastery.

Jeanie Pepe from Pepe’s Pit Stop will be our guest bartender and we have Tides Hotel’s talented massage therapists offer massages for $1 per minute.

TBP:  And I hear there will be some fun surprises.

Jimenez:  We will have a dunk tank where you can purchase beanbags to dunk some area friends.  Who knows who the dunk-ees will be?  And guests will be able to “dive for dollars” – Georgie’s Bar dollars, in the pool.

Overall, there are so many formal benefits for all the great charities around here that we wanted to do something fun and comfortable for people who do not usually go to benefits or who go and just prefer something casual.

TBP:  This is not the first event you have hosted at the Tides.

Jimenez:  The owners and I want the Tides to be part of this strong, great community.  We are honored to be in a position to give back.
