NY TIMES FEATURES “HOMEGROWN GOSSIP” SITES: ASBURY PARK HAD IT FIRST WITH “YOU SAY WHO”

If the New York Times article “In the Hamptons, Mind Your Manners or Else” whetted your appetite for local gossip, check out the Asbury Park area’s first and only column dedicated to the best of the worst local nonsense.

“(These sites) take place against a backdrop of a happily cranky marriage between decades old resentment of boorishness and the cultural shift toward comfortably sharing one’s everyday gripes online,” wrote Jim Rutenberg, author of the Times article.

Launched in 2007, You Say Who – once a weekly column on this site – calls out the trials, tribulations, semi-scandals and misdeeds of locals that take themselves way too seriously.  Publishing in black and white the stories that were once only spoken about openly behind “friends” backs on beach towels and at cocktail parties, the goal of the (not to be taken too seriously) column is to make readers laugh and-slash-or shake one’s head.  With topics, BTW, 100% sourced from those same locals (realtors are the best sources).  Read the column many love to hate and then send a tip to…
