ASBURY PARK STARS IN “JERSEYLICIOUS” SEASON 6: THE LOCAL SCOOP + WEDDING PHOTO

UPDATE 3/19/14:  A former Style Network representative, now working for another division of NBC, told TheBPlot that she was aware of “no plans to air” the new season of “Jerseylicious.”  All the former network’s executives have moved on and no one was following the show’s movements to land on a different network.  A source close to the show’s production suggested Oxygen Network may be a likely home this summer.

UPDATE 9/20/13:  Style Network is being eliminated to make room for the Esquire Network.  Anastasia, the PR person for “Jerseylicious” has not replied to my emails requesting an update regarding the airdate or new network.

Asbury Park has had its close-up.

This summer, our city-to-see has been spotlighted by reality stars and their respective camera crews.  From “Real Housewives of Atlanta” Kendra Moore’s weekend visit, to the “Jerseylicious” cast moving in for a month, our area has been a key player in some of cable’s most talked about reality shows.

“Jerseylicious,” centering on the trials and tribulations of two feisty New Jersey beauty salon glam squads, came to town in late July and camped out on Third Avenue at one of Pat Fasano’s hot properties.  The reality stars played around Asbury Park, taping moments that share the best of the city with an average of 600,000 US viewers and millions more in Canada, France, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Croatia, Peru and Germany.  You cannot buy that kind of attention with ladies 18 to 34 for Asbury Park.  [more below]

The show is a whole bunch of fun and big haired, excessively makeup-ed crazy.  I heard there is a food fight at one of your favorite restaurants downtown, a party at Paradise and a big moment at the Stone Pony.

Local taping essentially concludes Friday (Aug. 30) with the wedding of two of the show’s castmembers, Tracy and Corey.  In a calm and ultra-sweet moment, Tracy told me her bridesmaids will be wardrobed in leopard print and gold dresses with bouquets of deep red roses (exclusive photo below).

Sit with that visual for a minute and then read the quick conversation I had with Anthony Dominici, executive producer of “Jerseylicious.”

TBP:  Why Asbury Park for Season 6 of your show?

Dominici:  So many reasons.  Going into the season we knew that Olivia wanted to have a “Summer of Fun” – it is all she has been talking about.  She has been focusing on her career ambitions for the past several seasons and wanted to let loose and have some straight-up fun.

Meanwhile, Gayle Giacomo from Gatsby Salon recently moved to Asbury Park and invited us to check it out.  We saw how much the area had to offer – not only the beach but a thriving and eclectic community all around.  After a day of scouting locations and meeting shop and restaurant owners we knew Asbury Park would be a great fit for “Jerseylicious.”  [more below]

TBP:  When told the show was taping three blocks away from her during a visit to the city, Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola said, “Asbury Park got sloppy seconds.”

Dominici:  No comment.  That is unfortunate.  The community here has been very welcoming to us.

TBP:  The location is an uncredited character in every reality show.  How did the area contribute as a character?

Dominici:  Asbury Park is a big character in the show – and so are the locals.  We have been filming in restaurants like Taka, art galleries like My Art Gallery, Confections of a Rock Star, The Empress, Paradise, Cookman Creamery and on the beach and boardwalk just to name a few.

Through Gayle’s personal connections in the community our stylists from Gatsby and Anthony Robert Salons are working on an amazing project with the Asbury Park Chamber of Commerce that involves plenty of people in the community.  Super cool and we cannot wait to reveal it.

On behalf of the cast and crew, we thank you.

Jerseylicious” Season 6 begins airing on the Style Network in October.  Check local listings.
