INAUGURAL ‘DESTINATION ASBURY PARK’: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
The team of locals managing Destination Asbury Park – a weekend-long event focused on celebrating the city – has produced three days of fun for both tourists and locals beginning Friday (June 20).
The weekend kicks-off Friday evening with a meet and greet and all-you-can-eat clambake at the Beach Bar followed by a bonfire hosted by Madison Marquette.

Destination Asbury Park, a tourist-centric weekend for the city created by a grass roots group of locals, begins Friday (June 20).
“The city is filled with an interesting, eclectic group of people and we want to show off the great energy community spirit that’s here,” said Mikell Towery, one of the organizers of Destination Asbury Park and owner of a bed and breakfast. “I hear all the time from my guests that the people in Asbury Park are so friendly. We are asking residents to come and hang out at the meet and greet to share vibe that is so unique and wonderful to our city.”
Saturday’s highlight is a pool party at the Tides Hotel followed by an evening of drink specials at restaurants and bars around Asbury Park. On Sunday, revelers are invited to play at the beach and the Empress pool.
“Passports” will be available for $5, offering significant discounts at participating businesses around the city. When visitors check-in at 10 or more sponsoring businesses, they are entered to win the $2000 grand prize of a free week-long vacation at Mikell’s Hideaway with meals and entertainment. More than $1000 in prizes will also be awarded.
“Asbury Park has evolved into a week-long vacation spot,” said Towery. “We hope this weekend will reinforce that the city is about much more than a beach.”
