RARE LOOK INSIDE KELLY RIPA’S $30 MILLION NYC TOWNHOUSE: SHE’S BEEN HIDING IN STYLE & RIGHT TO DO SO…
The Queen of Morning Television, Kelly Ripa, along with her production team got royally screwed by the Powers That Be at ABC / Disney.
After Regis Philbin retired, it took nine months of co-host try-outs to choose Michael Strahan. During the search, it was extra heavy-lifting for Ripa and the behind-the-scenes team to make sure the show ran smoothly logistically and the ratings maintained. Friends at that show told me two additional producers were hired to help manage all the new logistical work. And now Ripa and team have to do it all over again.
Publicly, Ripa is carrying it all on her shoulders. She has every right to be pissed.
“We are all supposed to be part of the ABC family,” said my production source sarcastically via phone Saturday. “The impression we have right now is that ‘Live’ is the training ground for ‘Good Morning America’. We are not going to invest all the time in energy in getting a new co-host up to speed to have him lured away by another (ABC show) in four years.”
I’m cheering Ripa for not doing the show for a few days, choosing to hide in her five-story $30 million Upper East Side townhome (we are not publishing the address for her safety). Ripa, a Cherry Hill, NJ native, is a talented asset and should be treated as such.
She’s got F-you money, her kids are getting older and is well-positioned to flip all those ABC executives off at the end of her contract which is reported to run until August of 2017. To keep affiliates calm, the normal protocol would be to start negotiating her new contract this summer.
While all the national media outlets are publishing photos of the exterior door to Ripa’s recently immaculately renovated (by premier Manhattan residential restoration designer Umberto Squarcia) $30 million townhouse, TheBPlot is one of the few that can give you a peek inside…
